2022 World Cup: The door to the German national team is still open for Mario Gotze and Mats Hummels

2022 World Cup: The door to the German national, Mario Gotze will strengthen Eintracht Frankfurt next season. He was bought from PSV Eindhoven for 10 million euros with a contract until 2025. The German national team coach , Hansi Flick, did not include Mario Gotze and Mats Hummels in the list of German national team players in the 2022/2023 UEFA Nations League. Even so, Flick said that both of them still had the chance to defend Germany at the 2022 World Cup .

Instead of calling Hummels, Flick instead entered the name of 20-year-old Southampton defender Armel Bella-Kotchap. It was the first call for the player.

Meanwhile, for the attacking midfielder position, Flick prefers to call Jamal Musiala, a 19-year-old player belonging to Bayern Munich. Musiala has also performed well in the last few matches with Die Bayern.

Hansi Flick still opens the opportunity for anyone to enter the German national team at the 2022 World Cup . Although he was quite satisfied with the composition of the summons this time around.

Flick admits Mario Gotze has good qualities to enter the German national team . However, the former Bayern Munich coach asked Gotze to continue to show his best game with Eintracht Frankfurt, before the Nationalelf’s final call-up at the 2022 World Cup .

“But we saw what Mario did. It’s very good, and I’m very happy there. He looks mature,” said Flick quoted by Opta.

“We know he can play football. He has every chance if he continues to put in his best form before the World Cup.”

Hansi Flick admits the squad that was called up is now oriented directly to the 2022 World Cup. However, opportunities for both players are still open.

“The coaching team the German national is already in World Cup mode. We have extraordinary quality in attack, so for anyone who wants to get in there it will be difficult,” said Flick.

“But they both have a good chance to be in the team. We have 21 outfield players in the squad at the moment so at least two positions are open.”
