The England national team coach , Gareth Southgate, has released 28 names of players who will defend The Three Lions in the UEFA Nations League. However, out of the 28 players, there is no duo Manchester United (MU), Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho.

Though the appearance of these two players with MU began to improve at the beginning of this season. However, The 2022 World Cup England national team coach , Gareth Southgate, did not include the two and made the public surprised.

Moreover, the two matches that will be played by the England national team in the UEFA Nations League in September are the last two matches of the Three Lions ahead of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Automatic questions also arise regarding the possibility of the two players heading to Qatar 2022.

Southgate then explained the potential for calling a new name for the England national team ahead of the 2022 World Cup is very possible, but between The 2022 World Cup two United players only Marcus Rashford was mentioned.

Jadon Sancho Ready to Work Hard

Gareth Southgate did not mention the name Jadon Sancho at all. Even though the appearance of the former Borussia Dortmund player has improved since pre-season.

In eight games with Manchester United this season, Jadon Sancho has even scored three goals. Not as much as Haaland indeed, but this score is close to his goal record last season, which was five goals.

Sancho insists he is not worried about not being called up to England for the UEFA Nations League. The main target is to penetrate the England squad for the 2022 World Cup.

“That was my target. Unfortunately I didn’t get a call for now. The important thing is that I continue to work hard,” Sancho told the club’s official website.

Rashford still being watched

So far, Marcus Rashford has always been Erik ten Hag’s first choice as Manchester United’s pounding interpreter. He was even able to get rid of the big name Cristiano Ronaldo by always being trusted to start as a starter in the last six matches. The MU academy dropout has so far packed 3 goals and 2 assists from 6 matches. Rashford also received a 7.16 rating by Whoscored. (AFP/Oli Scarff)

Southgate clearly said that Rashford is a player he is monitoring to enter The 2022 World England squad . He hopes the Manchester United striker will perform better in the next few weeks.

“Like Marcus Rashford, he has shown signs of improvement lately. He is a player we know very well,” he said.

“So if he can put in a high level of performance in the next few weeks, of course we will consider him in the squad.”

Not final yet

Gareth Southgate also explained that the selection of 28 England national team players is not the end of everything. There are several players still being considered for the final squad for the 2022 World Cup.

Moreover, from the selection of these players, not all of them are performing well with the team. Even some of them have minimal flight hours.

“There are several players we want to involve for now. However, that does not mean this is the end for some players who have not been involved,” he said.
