Manchester United legend, Ryan Giggs resigns from the chair of Wales coach, fails to enliven the 2022 World Cup

The legend of Manchester United , Ryan Giggs on Monday (20/6/2022) evening UK time announced his decision to resign from the chair of Wales coach .

Giggs has actually been in charge of Wales coach since 2018. However, Giggs has been on leave since November 2020 and followed up on the case of domestic violence that he committed to his girlfriend at that time.

Giggs’ domestic violence case against his ex-lover is still ongoing and Giggs is scheduled to go on trial in August 2022.

With this resignation, it is confirmed that Giggs will not accompany Wales in Qatar at the 2022 World Cup from November to December.

In an official statement, Giggs stated that he made the decision to step down because he wanted Wales to concentrate fully on their current coach, Rob Page.

“After much deliberation, I have decided to step down from my position as manager of the men’s Wales national team,” Giggs said as quoted by BBC Sport.

Giggs insists he is reluctant to mess up Wales’ preparations for the 2022 World Cup, while still defending his case.

“As has been well publicized, I plead not guilty to the criminal charges heard at Manchester Crown Court.

‘While I am confident in our judicial process, I wish the case would have been heard earlier to allow me to continue my managerial responsibilities. Through no one’s fault, this case has been adjourned.”

“I don’t want the country’s preparations for the World Cup to be affected, destabilized, or threatened in any way by the continuing interest surrounding this case.”
