Queen Elizabeth II has been present in 67 Champions League games, 70 FA Cup matches, 20 Olympics and the World Cup . Really, that amount pales in comparison to his love of sports.

Robert Jobson, observer of the British Empire, said that Queen Elizabeth fell in love with football since childhood. His favorite position is goalkeeper, which he often plays during family games at Balmoral.

Since the 1953 FA Cup final, right on the day Queen Elizabeth II was given the crown of the British Empire, football has always accompanied her journey of life, until she left the world, following her beloved husband who had passed away.

1966 World Cup

Fifty-five years ago I was fortunate to present the World Cup to Bobby Moore and saw what it means for the players, management and staff to reach and win the final of a major international football tournament. – said Queen Elizabeth II ahead of the Euro 2020 final between England and Italy.

Exactly 13 years after being crowned queen, Queen Elizabeth II had the opportunity to be an important witness to the success of the England national team and Bobby Moore in winning the 1966 World Cup.

At that time, Moore, who was the captain of the England and West Ham national teams, climbed the championship podium after defeating West Germany in the final match. The Jules Rimet trophy was also given to the legend.

That’s the only World Cup title England have ever won. Queen Elizabeth II at least once rejoiced to welcome the title which had not yet come to the ‘ home of football ‘.

National Title to the Legend of West Ham and the England National Team

Queen Elizabeth also presented the winners’ medals to Moore’s West Ham teammates Geoff Hurst and Martin Peters, before the three Hammers then visited Buckingham Palace to receive the national title.

His arrival at that time was the inauguration of a stand or tribune with a capacity of 15,000 seats, with the unveiling of a plaque as part of the celebration of The Queen’s Golden Jubilee.

Alongside Moore, Hurst and Peters, the Queen also honors a number of others with direct or very strong links to West Ham, with FA Cup trio and European Cup-winning manager Ron Greenwood made CBE in 1981.

Later, Trevor Brooking was made MBE in 1981, CBE in 1999 and Knighted in 2004, while his longtime team-mate and captain Billy Bonds was made MBE in 1998, and Academy Director Tony Carr was made MBE in 2010.

Other former Hammers to be honored include Clyde Best, Teddy Sheringham, Stuart Pearce, David James, Frank Lampard Junior, Ian Wright and Jermain Defoe, all of whom have become MBEs for their services to football.

West Ham, Special

It was all done by Queen Elizabeth II because of her love for the England national team. He also left a special area in his heart for West Ham.

Queen Elizabeth, unlike her children, tries to stay neutral, never revealing what her favorite team is. But it is common knowledge that West Ham is the one he loves.

According to several sources, his love cannot be separated from the figure of Anne Boleyn, his ancestors who had been involved in the British Empire. Moreover, West Ham used to be based at the Boleyn Ground, a stadium that has a strong affiliation with Anne Boleyn.
