Milan Comeback Win in Extra Time, Keep Scudetto Chances


AC Milan turned things around with a comeback win in extra time to keep the Scudetto chances. The game against Lazio Roma at the Stadio Olimpico on Monday (25.04.2022). This early hours of the 34th matchday of the Serie A 2021-2022 season.


In that game, Lazio replaced the team they had previously played against Torino. And AC Milan also made changes to the team that previously played against Inter Milan.

Lazio scored the first goal through Ciro Immobile. But AC Milan then managed to win back two goals through Olivier Giroud and Sandro Tonali.

AC Milan trailed Lazio 1-0 in the first half.

Lazio immediately kicked the AC Milan defense from the start. They scored immediately in the fourth minute through Ciro Immobile.

Sergey Milinkovic-Savic successfully broke through Milan’s left defense line. Also sent a pull hook to the center of the penalty area. The ball was then caught by Immobile, who got rid of Karuku defender. 1:0!

Milan tried to get revenge. In the 17th minute, Giroud received a cross from Messiah and scored with a header. Unfortunately, the ball still missed the shot.

Milan then got Leo’s chance in the 27th minute. He broke through the right flank of the Lazio defense. But his shot went wide. Less than a minute later, Leo opened up to Casey. But the Ivorian player’s shot was too weak and went straight into Strakosha Arms.

In the 31st minute, Leo threatened again. He penetrated from the left flank and fired from outside the box. But Strakosha can still hold the ball with ease.

Milan continued to attack Lazio’s defense. They often attack from the left. In the 43rd minute, Theo Hernandez’s free kick created another chance. But the ball can still be driven by Strakosha.
In the end, it wasn’t until the end of the first half that AC Milan got the answer. Lazio temporarily lead 1-0.

In the second half, Lazio tried to attack again. They want to stay ahead. But AC Milan equalized in the 50th minute. Leo broke through Lazio right defense. He then sends the bait into the middle of the box. Giroud hits the ball at the near post and hits the net! 1-1

After a few substitutions, Lazio performance began to improve. Milan then responded with Ante Rebic and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. They replaced Brahim Diaz and Olivier Giroud.

The game was pretty tough back then. Milan then got a once-in-a-lifetime chance in the 83rd minute. This opportunity was obtained through Leo’s actions again. He entered the penalty area and hit his left foot. But Strakosha can still push the ball out of the field. Less than a minute later, Rebic pushed hard from outside the penalty area. But the ball through the bottom right corner of the goal can be pushed past the goal again by Strakosha.

Extra Time That Decide AC Milan Victory

In the 89th minute, Ibrahimovic got a good chance. He stood freely around the box and shot hard. But the ball went wide after being blocked by one of Lazio’s defenders.

90+2 minutes. Milan finally managed to get back to Lazio’s goal. Her pressing allowed Rebic to snatch the ball away from Lazio’s left-winger. The ball was then thrown into the penalty area, but the home defender failed to block it properly.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic then returned the ball to the center of the box. There’s Sandro Tonali. He had tried to be driven away by Strakosha. However, Tonali can still score with his right foot. Target! 1-2

This goal also continued until the end of the game. Lazio lost 1-2 to AC Milan. With this result, Milan now has 74 points from 34 games. And is at the top of the Serie A table for the 2021-22 season, while Lazio is seventh with 56 points.
