Meet Villarreal, Liverpool will not have the same fate as Juventus and Bayern

Liverpool centre-back, Virgil van Dijk, has warned his team not to suffer the same fate as Juventus and Bayern Munich when they met Villarreal in the Champions League.

Villarreal made a surprise move in the 2021-2022 Champions League.

At the first meeting of the last eight, Villarreal was able to defeat Bayern Munich with a score of 1-0.

Before Bayern, the champion of the Italian League, Juventus, had felt the power of Unai Emery’s team first.

In the round of 16, Juventus and Villarreal faced each other for the first time in European competition.

Villarreal had the opportunity to host first by hosting Juventus at El Madrigal.

In the first leg of the last 16, Villarreal was able to hold Juventus to a 1-1 draw.

Liverpool centre-back, Virgil van Dijk, had warned his team-mates long ago to be wary of Villarreal’s strength.

Virgil van Dijk believes Villarreal will be a tough challenge for Liverpool in the Champions League.

Moreover, according to the Dutch national team captain, Villarreal have four key players in each line.

“Villarreal will be a very difficult opponent,” said Van Dijk, quoted by from Marca.

“Midfield will be key because Dani Parejo’s presence is very good.”
“Obviously Etienne Capoue did a very good job and now Arnaut Danjuma, who I know from the national team, is doing very well.”

“There are very good players too like Pau Torres who is an extraordinary player in defence.”
